Rena Stewart Reeves

Miss Rena Stewart Reeves, age 84, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday morning, June 7, 2018. Miss Reeves was born on May 29, 1934 in Cave Spring, GA, a daughter of the late John Carlton Reeves and Cornelia Frances Wilbanks Reeves. Miss Reeves was retired from the Georgia School for the Deaf, following 38 years of dedicated teaching service to the Deaf. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a past member of the Cedartown Junior Service Welfare League. Miss Reeves was a member of the Cedartown First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her family, cousins, James & Linda Groves and Brian Groves; a number of other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside, Funeral & Interment services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, June 10, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. from the family lot of the Cave Spring City Cemetery with Mr. Tony L. Brazier & Mr. Brian Groves officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the: Polk County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1339, Cedartown, GA 30125.

The following are asked to serve as Pallbearers: Michael Shelton, Ralph Wilbanks, Brian Groves, Harmon Groves, Ray Lewis, Grady White and Ted White.

She was the Librarian at GSD for years and a membership chair for GSDAA.

Simon Duke

Mr. Simon Duke, 55, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Erlanger Medical Center.
He is survived by his parents, Sammy and Louise Duke; sister, Susie Chadwick; brothers and sister-in-law, Clint and Christie Duke, Mark Duke, LeBron Duke, and Jodee Duke; special uncle and aunt, Daniel and Wanda Duke; other uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 6th in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Pratt officiating.
Burial will be in Colonial Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 11 AM until 1PM.

James Augustus King

Mr. James Augustus King, Sr age 71, of Douglasville, GA, passed away February 7, 2018. He was born June 11, 1946 to the late Aquila Butler and Voncyle Fincher Ivie King, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen King; and sisters, Voncyle Hill and Patricia Weldon. Mr. King enjoyed fishing, sports and personal computer games.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Dean Willis King of Douglasville; daughters and son in law, Jan Seals of New Market, AL, Jennifer and Billy McCroskey of Tallapoosa and Jennifer King of Locust Grove, GA; son and daughter in law, Jay and Mayra King of Riviera Beach, FL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon and Darry Hawn of Hampton, GA and Becki and Anson Fields of Macon, GA; and brothers, AB and Nancy King of Jacksonville, AL and Tommy and Kim King of Morganton, GA.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM from Steadman Baptist Church. His family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
